What is a Network Rack?
A network rack is a wall-mounted or free-standing enclosure used to store electrical or network equipment. It usually comes with doors, and removable or non-removable side and back panels.

Typically, it's made of cold-rolled steel or alloys that protect storage devices from water, dust, and electromagnetic interference. Cabinets are generally divided into server cabinets, network cabinets, and console cabinets.

The purpose of the network cabinet

Most people always think of a cabinet as storage for IT equipment, but it's not just that. For computers, the cabinet also has the same important auxiliary role as the UPS power supply. A qualified cabinet means that the computer can operate in a good environment. Therefore, the role played by the network closet is equally important. The cabinet systematically solves the problems of high-density heat dissipation, a large number of wiring and management, and large-capacity power distribution. It is fully compatible with rack-mounted equipment from different manufacturers in computer applications so that the data center can normally operate in a highly stable environment.

Today, it is easy to see a variety of cabinets in major computer rooms. With the continuous breakthrough of the computer industry, the functions embodied by the cabinet are also increasing. Cabinets are generally used in network wiring rooms, floor wiring rooms, central computer rooms, data rooms, control centers, monitoring rooms, monitoring centers, etc.

The basic structure of the network cabinet

Typically, cabinet colors are white, black, and gray. Cabinets are divided into aluminum cabinets, cold-rolled steel cabinets, and hot-rolled steel cabinets according to their materials; in terms of processing technology, there are sheet metal cabinets and profile cabinets

The type of steel plate, coating material, and processing technology determine the stability of the box. The general cabinet width specification is 600,800mm, the depth is 600,800,1000mm, and the height or capacity varies from 4U to 52U.

The cabinets used in the early days are mostly made of castings or angle steel, which are connected or welded in the cabinet frame by screws or rivets, and the cover (door) is made of a thin steel plate. This kind of cabinet is large in size and simple in shape and has been eliminated.
